Formerly Quantum Leaps Dance, Ursula Smith Dance Organization was established in 2009 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization with the purpose of serving the community at large by providing innovative programing and access to the performing arts
R.I.S.E is a multimodal platform under the umbrella of Ursula Smith Dance Organization. These innovative programs are designed to give communities that have limited exposure access to arts by introducing dance workshops, dance classes and dance productions.
The late Melvin Blak, a respected dancer, master teacher and choreographer who made incredible contributions and strides in the field of dance. Ursula Smith, developed and posthumously named the Melvin Blak Dance Scholarship Fund in honor of her late mentor, Melvin Blak. Blak’s conviction was that everyone, regardless of social or economic circumstances, should have the chance to learn the disciplines of dance.
